So, as a quick look through the reviews of these socks will reveal, there was a point where Gold Toe was going through a dark phase and failing to produce quality socks. Many of the Fluffies from this era (let’s call it 2009-2013) would start falling apart almost immediately, with large threads coming loose and significant holes opening up for no reason (other than the shoddy quality of the materials and workmanship). It was a somber time for those of us that had come to know and love the Gold Toe Fluffie, which is probably alone among dress socks in providing a nice balance of comfort, warmth, dryness, breathability, and sharp looks. The conspicuous decline in quality led to Gold Toe being banished by several department stores that had carried them for decades: they refused to foist defective crap on their customers. That’s why so many of the other reviewers have found these socks hard to find in their brick-and-mortar stores. For a while, I sought a replacement brand, but no other could match the Fluffies: the competitors’ thicker socks were often too heavy and trapped moisture; others were too thin and provided no impact cushioning or protection from cold and snow. In despair, I tried ordering from Amazon and hoped for the best. It worked out. Gold Toe has heard our complaints and responded — the socks are now well-built and reliable. I waited for some time (and numerous washings) to see if these would begin falling apart as their slightly older siblings had, but they have held up admirably. You may order in confidence. Read more

I have worn these socks for, well, longer than I like to think about. To this point I have bought them again and again because they were manifestly of good quality and were very comfortable. The last two orders, however, have convinced me that they will have to be the last. The way the socks are made has changed radically. The material is very stiff, rather than the spandex-like material which fit and stayed up so well. within a washing or two, the top particularly had lost its shape and would no longer stay up. In past years, I was usually obligated to buy replacements because the heel was thinning, but even then the tops were still staying up well and maintaining the shape. I guess economics forces changes in everything, but these socks are relatively expensive (as socks go, $17 for 3 pair). In the past, I didn’t mind paying a premium. Can’t say that any more. My husband has sock issues. Think “Princess and the Pea” syndrome. Or, Goldilocks in the bears cabin…. this sock is toooo thick….this sock is tooo thin….this sock has toooo many seams… etc.. you get the point. So, according to him, these socks are the right amount of soft, the right amount of warmth, the right fit….etc.. I ordered in white, navy and black. Before you go thinking I’m a great wife, let me make this clear. I did it for me. I hear no complaints when he is wearing them. Now, if only they made a way to stop hearing….”these socks are perfect.. they are soooo comfortable…” Read more

I’m not sure what happened but these socks are not the same quality that I am used to with Gold Toe Socks. I have been buying and wearing Gold Toe Socks for over 8 years now, as soon as these arrived, I knew something was wrong. They did not look or feel the same as what I have purchased in the past. The elastic is not as strong as they used to be either. After a short while, they start slipping down your leg as you walk, sit, stand. And as far as fluffy, they are fluffy but not the same type of fluffy I am used to. These are nit the same socks I have been wearing for so long. I will not buy these again and I will never buy them again without actually seeing the socks and feeling the fabric. If you are used to normal Gold Toe Socks, these are NOT for you, you will be unhappy. Read more

I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL USER FOR AS FAR AS I CAN REMEMBER, AT LEAST 30 YEARS. ALL I HAVE IS GOLD TOE SOCKS. NOW WHEN I RECEIVED THIS ORDER THEY FELT DIFFERENTLY. MAYBE THE COMPOSITION OF MATERIALS HAD CHANGED? i PUT THEM ON AND ALL SEEMED FINE BUT THROUGHOUT THE DAY i FOUND MYSELF PULLING THEM UP SEVERAL TIMES AND BEGAN TO WONDER IF THESE SOCKS WERE FAULTY? OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS i WORE MY OLD GOLD TOE SOCKS AND DID NOT HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE OF PULLING THEM UP NEARLY AS MUCH.. SO I RESEARCHED THE COMPANY AND FOUND THEY WERE SOLD TO GILDAN IN 2016 AND THE MANUFACTURING WAS MOVED, I BELIEVE TO CHINA. ALL i KNOW IS I DO NOT LIKE THESE SOCKS AS MUCH AS THE OLDER ONES AND I WILL SEE HOW THESE NEW ONES HOLD UP. I HAVE SAFETY PINNED THEM TOGETHER SO I MAY TRACK THEM SPECIFICALLY AS THEY ARE WASHED. SO FAR A ONE STAR. I AM SAD. Read more

This is my husband’s review. Socks I received are fluffy but they’re huge compared with what I could buy at Kohls years ago. Size 10-13. Maybe 2 inches longer and too loose. I have to separate the new socks and only wear them when I’ve been too lazy to wash my older fluffies. I’d prefer to stick with one brand of sock so that sorting is easy and thickness is predictable but no joy. No returns so I own them ☹️. Read more

Don’t get me wrong! I LOVE Gold Toe brand socks and they’re the only socks that EVER touch my feet, but… DON’T BE MISLED BY THE WORD “FLUFFIES!” When I bought these, I was under the impression that they were going to be normal “everday casual” socks, and with the word “fluffies” in the title, I was assuming they’d be thick. You know, what most shoppers think when they believe that they can trust the product description from a respectable company, but I was wrong. I guess I should have been more careful when reading the materials and saw that they didn’t include cotton, but again, “fluffies” was there so… Needless to say, these sock are NOT fluffy nor are they casual. They’re thin, fall down constantly unless you wear sock suspenders dress socks. They feel more like the hosiery socks that you get when renting a tux, but at least those stay up. VERY DISAPPOINTED!
