UPDATE! These are very slippery on any snow or ice so get better boots for that. They held up ok I guess. They are totaled and done for now after 6 months of use in an industrial setting. The waterproof was gone in three after the sewing fell out near the crease of the toe box. The sole fell off from the tip on the same shoe just yesterday. I don’t think I will go for another pair because of the price and durability. Very comfy shoe for someone who may not work physically. These would not work well as a real hiking boot in any situation. I use NB shoes for work and was VERY happy to see these offered. They look and work like boots but are light and nimble like sneakers. I am very happy with my purchase. The toes are protected to keep them warm and dry. Easy to lace, easy to get in. Rollerbar support. No slip, good clean look and doesn’t look like I’m wearing my boots inside after working outside. I run around all day in a fine hotel with these. I think cops, housemen, security or anybody who wants an ultra light warm boot that acts like a sneaker would enjoy this hiking boot. I am VERY stoked with these shoes and will report in like I always do on the NB models I get here. Worth every penny and they keep me happy and dry in Montana. Thanks NewBalance! I usually wear a 10.5 EE but NB suggested that I size up to an 11 EE. They were right on the money with that call, use the calculator to make sure you get the right size. Read more

Love these boots! I wear a 13 6-E and they fit perfectly! Very comfortable in the woods, or on cement. Looking forward to see how long they last under the punishment I put them through, so far so good. They are not insulated but we’ve had subzero temps the last couple weeks and no issues with regular socks. They have stayed dry in the snow & slush, I did spray they prior to wearing. Got a great price here on Amazon and very satisfied with the product. (I am not a compensated reviewer) ****Update 8-7-2018**** I’ve been wearing this boot for quite some time now in many different situations. I cut wood deep in the woods in a very cold winter, trudged through snow & slush never getting cold or wet! The soles and exterior held up better than expected walking thru the scrub & brush including briers. (I do spray them with silicone) I wear them to work walking on a concrete warehouse floor all day and they are very comfortable, I even work out in the pouring rain and never have a wet foot. Lastly I walk the dog every chance I get in them as they are more comfortable and supportive than my tennis shoes. I’ve been so impressed with this boot especially with my size 13 6E foot I just purchased another pair that were on sale here on amazon!! Nothing wrong with the original ones I’ve been wearing,, I just like to be prepared in case they change or discontinue them. This is a great boot and I “Highly Recommend” them!! Read more

I am returning these boots because they are simply not what I expect from New Balance. I have purchased NB boots for about twenty years and I know they dropped most of their boots last July. This is one of the new line of boots are the leather is much thinner than all the previous boots and looks more like vinyl than leather. Although I chose the 6E width to give me some additional room, these are actually a tighter fit than my previous 4E boots. I purchased a pair of Dunham “Cloud” boots (SKU MCR6630B) at the same time I bought these NB boots and the Dunham boots look like the previous versions of NB boots I have bought. Interestingly, the Dunham boots, which were available up to only 4E in width, are a perfect fit with a little extra room – great for days when two pairs of sicks are in order. The leather and workmanship on the Dunhams are much more in keeping with the standards I am used to having from NB. And yes, before I get flamed, I do know that Dunham is owned by NB. I will look for similar Dunham boots and shoes and simply give up on NB. Speaking of giving up on NB, two recent trips to my local NB Store have been a waste of time because they did not have my size (10-4E/6E) in either boots or shoes that I liked. That is the first time they couldn’t fit me in over ten years. Read more

I took these shoes on a backpacking trip all over Europe. These shoes have been in heavy rain and in the arctic snow (-5C). They still kept my feet warm and dry (unless the snow came in from the top of the shoe). They are also so comfy, I must have walked over 300 miles with these shoes during my trip and they’re still holding up. There’s a hole forming where I just in my heel, but the outside still looks good. The metal shoelace notches took a some time to get used. I walk with a slight overpronation (feet lands more inward), so they can catch stuff or hook to the other shoe and trip. So I have adjusted to a more normal pronation. My major issue with these shoes are the treads, the grip is awful. I have slipped so many times on wet floors and ice, so I have to be very careful when the ground is slick. I will use these shoes as the baseline for my next pair of rain/snow shoes. I still recommend these shoes for normal use and in rainy weather, they’re so comfortable, waterproof, and durable. I love these boots. I have a 4E then got a 2E which fits even better. I love that they’re gore tex. I wish the sole gripped on ice and snow a little better. That’s the only drawback. I got a pair of Vasques that have better traction. 1400’s are a little lighter and not as stiff as the Vasques. These 1400’s V1 could easily be my forever walking boot but I’m sure NB will go to version 2 sometime soon, probably change the country of manuf. and ruin it again for me, just like they did on the 928 V1 walking shoe which I loved and can’t wear anymore because they changed it. I complained to them, to no avail, of course. If I weren’t 76, I’d order several more pairs of the 1400 V1 and store them in my closet. Oh, what the heck, I think I’ll just go ahead and do it before they’re all gone. Read more
